Hello and welcome to the Social Workers Accessing Group Support blog. My name is Jenni, I'm a third year social work student at James Cook University in Cairns, starting my first 13 week placement.One of my first tasks was to create a social work blog. After discussion with my supervisor we decided to start this SWAGS blog for all social work students, social workers and anyone else interested in social work action in Far North Queensland.
The aim of this blog is to raise awareness about social issues, form support and bring social workers together as peer and professional support.
One of my learning objectives while on placement is to develop an understanding of how technology can be used productively in social work so creating this social work blog is a great way to put my learning into practice.

Jenni, well done. I think you have had a terrific first day placement. I hope you enjoyed it, that I haven't turned you off being a social worker and that your interest in social workers and technology continues for ever more.

I hope you do keep it going Jenni. Social Work loans itself beautifully to all Web 2.0 applications, especially citizen journalism through blogs and social networking.
